ENGAGING
The first workshop of the Perforating the City series will examine how urban social permeability is addressed and/or facilitated through community engagement practices. By social permeability, we will focus on encounters and relational connections across strangers and actors of different social backgrounds. The workshop will bring together invited professionals/specialists from Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Taipei to share their work and reflections. They will be joined by additional discussants to enrich the conversation.

In each session, the presentations will be followed by a discussion with discussants and other presenters. Each presenter or team is expected to provide a short, written report and prepare a presentation, focusing on one or more projects or encounters that highlight the challenges and/or opportunities of facilitating bonding or understanding despite and across social and cultural diGerences. In your report and presentation, please introduce the context, actors,
intentions, processes, and outcomes of your selected case and conclude with a few takeaways or reflections. Include any relevant references or literature that informs your work.
